Corn Pops Cereal Treats

by John Mastro on September 30, 2011

in Recipes

We’ve all tried and love Rice Krispie Treats. What’s not to love about them? Chewy, marshmallowy, buttery goodness! Well, when you want an awesome treat that’s similar yet distinctively different, grab a box of Corn Pops and make this fabulously chewy, marshmallowy, buttery treat instead!

Ingredients:

  • Corn Pops Cereal
  • Marshmallows or Marshmallow Fluff
  • Butter

First let me say that this recipe is not precise, and it doesn’t need to be. You’ve got to just go for it and wing it, because the results will be so much better if you do!

  • Start by slowly melting half a stick of butter in a good sized nonstick pot.
  • When the butter gets melty, add a regular sized bag of marshmallows or a jar of marshmallow fluff to the pot.
  • Keep stirring until the marshmallows have melted and mixed well with the butter.
  • Turn off the heat and pour in the Corn Pops. Add about 2 cups to start and mix it together thoroughly, getting those Pops all covered and goo-ed together. Keep adding them in small amounts until the whole mix starts to clump into one big glob.
  • Pour out the treat mix into a buttered 8 x 8 Pyrex dish, or spread it out on a sheet of wax paper.
  • Let it cool and cut into squares, or cut off peices as needed.

Enjoy this great alternative to Rice Kriepie Treats, Corn Pop Treats!

The Broadway Musical The Lion King at San Diego Civic Theater

This week we took our two boys to see the Broadway musical smash The Lion King in San Diego at the Civic Theater. We were really looking forward to it, well, my wife and I were at least. We had never seen the musical, and unbeknown to me until the performance ended, the boys had never even seen the movie! [Read More...]

I think it’s gotta be official. I am the world’s worst blogger. At least by my standards anyway. I set out on this crazy blogger adventure in the hopes of sharing my self professed brilliant writing skills and the infinite wisdom and insight that I possess with the world, while making a decent second income from it too.

Silly arrogant moment passed, I honestly was thinking when I started that I write fairly well, and I could maintain a blogging pace that would merit the income. Well unfortunately I haven’t been able to maintain that pace, and the readership and site visits have proven it.

It’s been admittedly harder than I thought it would, and there is alot more to being a successful blogger than I thought too. The insightful topics haven’t been coming to me like I thought they would, and I’m still struggling with finding my niche. Not to mention I’ve been putting my family and school obligations first, which there is no question as to why. I have to admit a little discouragment with it all too over not seeing the results I’d hoped for, and especially not seeing the support I’d hoped for.

That’s my piece about it, the air is clear. I wrote this today as a, hopefully, new kickoff point where I can really take it up a notch and start blogging full steam ahead. The goals I’ve set are attainable. It’s just giving it the best try I can that will actually bring them to fruition.

“Behold, as a wild ass in the desert, go I forth to my work”.

The infamous Balloon Boy balloon came down this past October 15th, and after a few more hours of rivoting suspense…”Where is he then?”, “Did he fall out?”, we discover he was safe and napping in a box in the attic. You can’t script TV like that! And you certainly couldn’t ask for greater media exposure…hmm. I’m [...]

Why I Love Audiobooks

October 12, 2009 Editorial

All my life I have always enjoyed reading books. I reminisce of afternoons as a kid sitting up in the crook of an old tree in our backyard, imagining that I was a dogsled musher while reading Jack London’s Call of the Wild. To being a geeky teenager spending his allowance on the first novels [...]
